TSHIKAMA KALAMBA ALFRED SAMUEL, known professionally as Tshikama, is a Congolese painter known for his use of colorful brushstrokes. Tshikama’s works include strong vertical brush strokes which create a sense of depth for the viewer. His use of color is key to his technique, often mixing strong colors with cooler tones. The style is evocative of both semi-abstract and impressionist paintings, though his subjects are rooted in what the artist witnesses in his native Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). Tshikama studied at the Académie des beaux-arts de Kinshasa. He has exhibited in Africa and Europe.
