Sam llus is an acronym of the Congolese painter’s real name Samuel Mbombe llunga.
Hi paintings are characterized by a liveliness of color, a care of details, and abounding creativity and spontaneity. His nationalism and idealism can be seen throughout his works.
Sam Ilus studied at the Academie des Beaux-Arts in Kinshasa and worked in the atelier of acclaimed Congolese painter Cheri-Cherin.
