Lives and works in Kinshasa, DRC
Pelindaa Mulonda is a true trailblazer in the contemporary Congolese art scene, overcoming the numerous obstacles facing women in the arts in the DRC to become not only an acclaimed painter and sculpture and a distinguished graduate of Kinshasa’s prestigious Académie des Beaux-Arts, but also the Académie’s first female professor of painting. Pelindaa’s technique includes heavy brushstrokes along with residue of copper and also fabric collage, creating works that are both vibrant and beautiful. She frequently chooses Congolese women as her subjects.
