Houston Maludi

Congolese, b. 1978.
Lives and works in Kinshasa, DRC
Houston Maludi calls his unique style of painting “Monochromique Cubism Symbiotique Quantique.” Inspired by the Cubist painters Georges Braques and Pablo Picasso, his works explore scenes of everyday life and culture in Kinshasa, DRC. His works contain endless details, some of which emerge only with the viewer’s change in perspective. His use of a limited color palette in each work creates a painting style that is almost graphic in its effect.
