Landry Mulala

Congolese painter Mulala Landry is known for his bright and colorful works focused frequently on portraits of Congolese women, popular musicians and artists, and members of “La Sape.” His works highlight the vibrant culture of the Democratic Republic of Congo in a positive and playful manner, often incorporating African wax print fabric (pagne) in his subjects. His talents were discovered by the acclaimed Congolese painter Chéri Cherin.  He studied at the Academie des Beaux-Arts in Kinshasa.
